Annette Smith

Annette Smith graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2006, when she won the Bath Spa University prize.
She has exhibited in London and the south west. She organised the first exhibition of the 'For Now' artists' group for the Bath Fringe Festival 2009.
Her commissions include an installation based on a large scale tunnel book for Bath Abbey, which used photographic montage for a contemporary interpretation of the nativity story.
She investigates the passage of time and its relationship to lived experience, her dreamlike images resonating with the viewer’s own memories. She is interested in how images are transformed by the means used to preserve or interpret them, particularly early photographic techniques such as the pinhole camera and alternative print processes.
Her current work is in response to the several old faded shop signs around Bath, where the narrative of the city is being slowly erased or eroded.
